Life as a mommy

To say life after having kids changes is kind of stating the obvious. I have never really stopped to think about it though. To be honest I can hardly remember what life was like before Lucas joined our family 2 1/2 years ago...I barely remember what it was like before Macie joined our family 6 months ago. It's kind of funny how that happens.
Today as I was opening Buzz and Woody sippy cups, a toy monster truck, and a purse teething toy (sooo cute by the way) I realized something, having kids has changed me in so many ways. I care about the happiness of these two more than I care about almost anything in the whole world. I spent a gift card I got for my birthday on them (on above said items) without even thinking about it. Although i probably shouldn't mention that since i told my mom I would spend it on something for myself (although buying my kids things things does make me happy :))
I love being a mom..even though Lucas may drive me crazy (on a daily basis :)) and Macie keeps me up at all hours of the night (alright maybe not so much anymore. I Love my family and would not trade them for anything in the world.
It's hard to want to skip the next 3 1/2 years and have Colby be done with school, but still want my kids to be this little. Time seems to be going by too quickly and I can not believe how big they are getting. Lucas just moved into his first booster seat (although it still has a 5 point harness) and Macie has moved into his Convertible car seat. Yay for not having to lug around a heavy infant car seat.

And these are just pictures I thought were cute so I decided to share :)

Moving Forward

The thought of Pharmacy school has been in the back of our minds for a long time..basically since before we even got married. We had this perfect plan in our minds, but it was always far away.
Since then the plan has changed in a few big ways (Lucas and Macie :)) Moving somewhere far away was an exciting thought before we had kids. After Lucas was born the thought became less appealing. We still had a while to go then though so I didn't think to much about it.
In July Colby began the application process and it all started becoming very real. The next few months were spent prepping for interviews and going off to early interviews. In October he received his first acceptance, and while it was a huge weight lifted off of our shoulders, it was also in Florida. A week later he received his second acceptance and it also was in Florida. For awhile it seemed like we would be moving there.
I don't think it surprised anyone that i wasn't to thrilled with the thought of moving so far away. I wanted my kids to grow up near their grandparents and cousins. I also was a little selfish in my thoughts, and was terrified of moving far away and being alone while Colby was busy all day, everyday.
I tried talking Florida up as much as possible, trying to trick myself into thinking I wanted to go there. I will admit there were many things that appealed to me about the possible move: year round summer, Disney-world, beach and other little things as well.
Just as I was starting to talk myself into the idea of moving to Florida, things changed again. Colby went for another interview at Roseman University. Roseman has two campuses, one in Henderson Nevada and one in South Jordan Utah. This is a school i really, really wanted him to get into. It was close to home and a 3 year school instead of a 4 year school. The bad part about Roseman was that they did not have rolling admissions (accepting, waitlisting, or declining people within a few weeks of interviewing) as most schools did. They did offer a few "early acceptances" after each interview cycle but it was only a small handful and the majority of people have to wait until the final interview is completed.
Colby went to his interview and came back feeling very confident. We went in knowing we would probably not hear back until late April/early May. Less then two weeks after the interview Colby got a call from admissions and he was chose for early admission. He was given the option of which campus and we chose Henderson..we want a break from the snow!
I was soooo excited after this call! We still needed to talk over everything and decide which school was best for him to go to.
After talking over everything, Henderson is looking very good! There is a very very small chance that we will end up in SLC at U of U but i believe Florida is nearly eliminated, but we are keeping the option open for now.
The thought of living close to home really makes me happy! We will be able to go home for holidays and that really excites me. It will be a much happier move. :)

Roseman in Henderson Nevada (It use to be called University of Southern Nevada in case your wondering about the sign :))
